“Modern Policing Is the Result of Joint Professional Efforts”
The Faculty of Law Enforcement at Ludovika University of Public Service (LUPS) hosted a commemorative conference on 14–15 October in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Association of European Police Colleges (AEPC). Events were held at both the Ministry of Interior and Ludovika University. The programme featured the AEPC Annual Scientific Conference, the 5th Ludovika International Law Enforcement Research Symposium (LILERS), and the association’s annual Board Meeting.
Emese Horváczy, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, delivered the opening address on behalf of Minister Gábor Pósfai and highlighted the importance of international professional cooperation and strong ties between law enforcement training institutions
On the occasion of the AEPC’s 30th anniversary, former president and co-founder of the AEPC, Mr. Albert Goedendorp, was also invited to this event. He reflected on the circumstances of the organisation’s founding and its early years of international cooperation. He emphasised AEPC’s role in connecting law enforcement training institutions, facilitating the exchange of experience, and supporting efforts to meet standards linked to European integration. Goedendorp noted that, from the outset, the organisation’s strength has come from personal relationships and the mutual sharing of knowledge.
The 5th Ludovika International Law Enforcement Research Symposium (LILERS) took place at the Ludovika University of Public Service. Participants attended engaging presentations on professional topics, emphasising current challenges in law enforcement training.
The Governing Board elected the third AEPC Vice-President, Mr. Darko Simovic—Vice-Rector for Science at the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies in Belgrade—as well as the new composition of the AEPC Executive Committee (Austria, Germany, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and the Netherlands).
